Q: Do you mind books with similar ideas to other books? Similar concepts, backgrounds, retellings or pulled-to-publish fanfic?
Personally, I don't, because even if the concepts or ideas are similar, there are still those tons of differences that can make one story worthwhile and other not so much.
Hopping through. Totally agree. A book with enough differences can make up for similar themes. As long as it feels unique. New follower!

Agreed. As long as there's enough differences or unique twists, it's usually still okay. :D Old follower via GFC. My FFs are at Musings on Fantasia and LKHill. Happy Friday! :D
ReplyDeleteYou make a good point, a book with enough new stuff mixed in can still be good even if some other elements are familiar. Thanks for sharing, new follower via GFC :) Here's my FFF

I agree that similar concepts aren't that bad, but I would like it if stories have at least some original aspects to them! Good job on your NaNoWriMo btw! Good luck! :) New follower!

I agree! I don't mind as long as there seems to be some original thought put into the story.
