Book Blogger: Charlie Dio
Lit and Literary (formerly known as Book Junkie Joint and The Perfictionist) is a personal blog featuring books, book reviews, authors and the various intricacies of written fiction. This blog was spawned due to my love for reading and books.
I'm Charlie, and I hail from the Philippines.
My love for books started when my Mom gave me with a ten-volume set of bible stories by Arthur S. Maxwell at the age of just 4 or 5 years old. I could never forget the memory of unpacking a huge box filled with books and colorful pictures. For days, I weaved through the pages and watched the illustrations, wanting to know what they meant. When I finally learned how to read, I devoured the books with gusto. By the fifth grade, I finished all ten volumes.
I was an avid fan of Buffy the Vampire Slayer (both the series and the books) in high school. And the fact that my Mom bought me Washington Irving's Sleepy Hollow during my formative years definitely did not curb my lust for horror. In fact, this sparked a phase in my high school life which led me to develop a deep-seated love for horror books even though I'm a scaredy-cat in real life. Yes, that doesn't make sense at all, but I'm ironic that way, don't ask.
Eventually, I ventured into reading other genres aside from horror. In College, I read historical classics of Jane Austen (Yes, Mr. Darcy!) along with the political writings by philosophers such as Machiavelli (on whether it is better to be feared than to be loved) and Plato. It would be safe to say that I read way more books than the average teenager then. Heh. And yes, I'm not really ashamed to admit that.
From when I was in grade school, I've always wanted to be a lawyer. In high school, I discovered a love and penchant for writing, so I've pretty much planned to be a writer after becoming a lawyer. For now though, I'm working on being a lawyer, and working to build-up a career as a writer.
I run this book blog to connect with other readers, authors and other book lovers.
In real life, I have my own mini-library at home for physical books. Yes, I'm proud to brag - yes, BRAG - that I have a room solely dedicated to my books! I have my mother to thank for that. I'll have you know that my mom hasn't always been so accepting of my voracious reading appetite. She just didn't stand a chance against my ever burning passion for reading and books (I kid you, don't take me seriously).
That's it! Thank you for taking time to visit this page!
Peace, Love and Bacon!
