Book Information:
Englishman Lake Benson loaned his life savings to his dippy sister so that she could buy a shop. It was a big mistake. His sister has been steadily flushing his money down the drain – and now he wants it back. Years in the special forces taught Lake that if you want a job done, do it yourself. So he steps in to make the shop profitable, sell it and get his money back. The only problem is, the business is an underwear shop. And all Lake knows about underwear can be summed up in how fast he can unsnap a bra. To make matters worse, the tiny highland town already has a lingerie shop. A successful one, run by an ex-lingerie model. A very gorgeous ex-lingerie model, who’s distracting him from his mission more than he’d like to admit. If Lake wants to get his savings back, and get out of Scotland, he only has one option – wipe out the competition.

Kirsty Campbell has spent years rebuilding her life after she woke up in hospital in Spain to find her body scarred, and her ex-fiance had run off with all her money. The last thing she needs is a cocky, English soldier-boy trying to ruin all she has left. Her home town is only too happy to help her fight the latest English invasion, although Lake is beginning to sway them with his sex appeal and cut price knickers. With the help of her mother, and the retired ladies of Knit or Die, Kirsty sets about making sure that her shop is the last one standing in Invertary.

It’s Scotland versus England as you’ve never seen it before. It’s lingerie war.

Review:
It's war like you've never seen before!

What happens when you put a determined Englishman head to head with an equally feisty Scot? Fantastic chemistry, that's what!

Admission: I love reading about love-hate relationships bordering between insane hate and undeniable chemistry, and in Lingerie Wars, that's exactly what I got and then some! Story-wise, it's definitely unique. I mean, come on, it's war between two lingerie shops. It couldn't get any more sexier than that!

To be honest, Lingerie Wars exceeded my expectations. Well, I was mostly looking forward to reading yet another contemporary romance, and it was that, but it also gave me more. More than the romance aspect and the adorable characters, Lingerie Wars is also about second chances, conquering your fears and making a choice between what you planned for all along and that precious something you've found. It's about braving the world out of your comfort zone and making something possible despite the odds. These are universal lessons packed in an engrossing and entertaining book, and with sizzling chemistry and romance between the two lead characters to boot!

When I read about Kirsty's background story, I couldn't help but feel sympathy for her. She was on the brink of success and the world was at her feet. I could only imagine the pain she experienced when her fiance dumped her, and with her body -- her biggest asset -- scarred. For both career and love to have suddenly abandoned her, no wonder she chose to stay low and hide rather than get back on the pedestal. I'm glad she got a kick in the arse when she met Lake Benson. He was exactly the type of motivation she needed to get back on her feet and fight back with all she had.

As for Lake, I find him too aggressive for his own good. He barrels through anyone and anything in his path when he's determined to accomplish something. And when he met Kirsty, it would be safe to say that he's finally met his match. Also, while I understand that he's only looking out for his sister, the way he speaks to her and the way he treats her strikes a wrong chord with me. I understand his motivation, but I didn't like his execution.

As for the other characters in the story, they're all adorable! I love Kirsty's overprotective mom and her minions who become ninjas in the night just to defend Kirsty's honor! They're well-meaning but hilarious!

My most favorite part of the story was when Lake put on his best show ever, only to be upstaged by Kirsty when she decided to use her best asset once again, and put him in his place. My second favorite scene? When Lake kicked the sorry ass of Kirsty's good-for-nothing ex. That gave me vindication.

And finally, just like all other great stories, this one gave me a happy ending.
