[AU - Anime] Blood Lad

AU stands for Alternate Universe, which could also mean "alternate reality". AU depicts an entirely different reality than the canon or official universe where a character in a book or movie lives or exists. Example: Canon - Harry Potter is a wizard studying in Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry; AU - Harry Potter is an ordinary teenager with a knack for science, and is studying at the Michigan Institute of Technology.

The objective of AU is simple: blog about something other than books for at least once a month. It could be about movies, food, fashion, TV shows, etc., just as long as it's not about books.

The following are the reasons why I decided to include a non-book post in this blog:
  1. The world is vast, and there is a need to get acquainted with other things, too.
  2. Information-sharing.
  3. Outlet for inner geek. Hee.
For the first AU post, I'm featuring the anime series Blood Lad!

Blood lad is a 10-episode anime series which aired from July 7, 2013 to September 8, 2013, so it's fairly new. It is based on a manga (Japanese comics) of the same title created by Yuuki Kodama.

It features the main characters Staz Charlie Blood, a noble-bloodied vampire, and Fuyumi Yanagi, a human girl who wanders off to the demon world.

I finished watching Blood Lad last September and was quite surprised by how quirky it was! I was expecting a dark sort of anime because it featured vampires and demons, but surprisingly, it was really funny, heartwarming and insane!

For me, the best thing about blood lad is Staz, because he isn't a typical vampire. He's one of the territory bosses of the East Demon World so he's strong but that's just the tip of the iceberg in his strength. He's a tyrant, he loves reading mangas, he loves playing computer games and he doesn't hunger for human blood. See?! He's just awesome!

The side-characters and their powers are awesome, too! Plus, the intersecting lives are really colorful. A bit of warning though, this anime is a little ecchi. After all, it features anime girls with big boobs, and frequently shows panty-shots. Nothing majorly scandalous, though. *winks*

The only downside I found with this anime is that it only has 10 episodes, which is too short to really have any major arc in it. I was hoping for more episodes, but alas, I do not control the world. Also, the ending was really hanging that I was a bit disappointed. *hoping for Season 2*
