For a thousand years, Chace has searched for a way to break the curse placed on him by a jilted lover. He’s already lost everyone he ever cared about a few times over and doesn’t know how much longer he’s meant to suffer.

The next day, he meets Skylar, a modern day dragon slayer whose mission is to cage him – or kill him. Sexy, witty and brave, she is the yin to his yang, the woman destined to break the curse, balance his magic and make his broken heart whole.
Except it’s too late. Not only has he sealed his fate, but an innocent one-night-stand with Skylar has dragged her into the middle of a deal with the devil, one she won’t escape, if he can’t convince her that dragon shifters aren’t her enemies.
First off, the plot is unique but I think it's lackluster. I think that the story-telling aspect was a little weak, but don't get me wrong, the steamy scenes were steamy. It just isn't enough for me. This was the reason why I didn't really get into the story. It kind of got a little predictable, which is a pity because it was interesting to read about the different shifters. It would've been interesting to see Chase have more support from his shifter friends.
The romance aspect of the story also bothered me very much. Sure, I get the half-of-your-heart thing, but it felt like it was just an excuse to have Chase and Skylar in bed at the soonest time possible. To be blunt about it, their romance was Insta-Love. It felt forced, unnatural and unbelievable.
Character-wise though, I really liked Chase. He's selfish but he's always been upfront about it. It wasn't in his nature to think about the consequences of his actions as regards the other people around him. He's lived so long that very little mattered to him. This part of him was something I understood.
As for Skylar, well, let it be known that in my entire book-reviewing hobby, I've come to be wary of female characters who immediately jump in bed with some stranger they barely know (unless this is an important part of the plot). I feel undecided about her. She's supposed to be a strong female character but in all honesty, I'm not really sold on her either.
All in all, this book is a good read if you want to kill some time off.
