[Linking Up] Feature and Follow #30

How do you handle a book you don’t like?
Do you DNF or do you power through?

As much as possible, I try to power through because I've always had the notion that every story is worth reading. But of course, for every rule, there's an exception. Heh. I DNF books that are badly-written, plotless and completely predictable.Bad characterization pisses me off, too, but when I encounter this, more often than not, I power through.

  1. I should give you some of my DNFs and maybe we can challenge that notion, lol. Flat characters, non action, cliches, or reading suspiciously like fan fiction are all ways for me to inevitably DNF a book.

  2. Oh, yes. Bad writing makes me DNF a book after a couple of pages.

  3. I used to power through but I no longer have the time and it turned reading into a chore. There are too many books on my tbr pile for me to feel guilty and I'm picky about what I read, so only have 1 DNF so far!
