About the Book:
What if The One actually walks up to you and even says hello, would you greet back or turn your back unknowingly that you have actually met? Would you know when you’ve actually met?
Serendipity is a funny thing that brings a tinge of bittersweet bliss to anyone who is fortunate to experience it. Hello is a trilogy that explores how serendipitous life can sometimes be.
Definitely, Maybe is a story of how fate plays with two people as they meet each decade hoping that maybe this time around, they can finally be together.
Almost Mismatch tells how two people so right for each other be so wrong and no matter how much they try to suppress their feelings, true love will not stop at anything. What is meant to be will be.

Finally, Dinner Date portrays how two people’s search for love could take them to different places and people only to lead them back to where they started.
The world is just like a huge maze that no matter what direction one walks to, there will always be one final destination. There seems to be an invisible string that is handcuffed to two people on each end and unsuspectingly pulls these two people destined for each other back together no matter how long it takes.

Excerpt:

The Shelf Life opened for the first time to the public around ten in the morning and so far a lot of people have bothered to come in and to take a peek at what’s in store. Most of them admired how creatively it was decorated and some have even bought books. They were able to find books that were hard to find elsewhere. Everything was going smoothly as planned. By nightfall, Betsy and Josh started serving cocktails and finger food to whoever came. Lena began to feel nervous when she saw her parents arrive with a critical look on their faces. They looked around the bookstore for five minutes while keeping a firm look on their faces and muttering hushed whispers to each other. They shot Lena a glance, which signaled her to follow them before they stepped out to the patio at the back of the bookstore where tables were set if the people wanted to browse through a book before deciding to buy.

“So, what do you think of my new business venture?” Lena asked her parents as she stepped out the patio. “It was disappointing… How do you expect to earn profits from selling books? There are new innovations nowadays that do not require one to buy the actual book but still be able to enjoy the author’s work. You invested in something so worthless instead of helping us out with the family business.” Lena’s mother said sternly, not mindful of Lena’s emotions.

Lena just swallowed her tears, careful not to shed any in front of her parents. “You have always been so hardheaded, insisting on doing what you want. You’re going nowhere with the career you choose. You better think about all these things before it’s too late…” Lena’s father added before they took their leave. She stood her ground while her parents were still in sight; after they disappeared into the crowd and out the front door, Lena’s world seemed to have been sucked into a black hole where everything seemed to be crashing down and blown away.

Lena kept blinking back her tears and just stood there, staring blankly. Her parents were her kryptonite. She has always wanted to get recognition from them but they seemed to only see her sister as the perfect child and Lena as the black sheep.

She fell to the ground and buried her face in her knees and covered her sobs with her arms around her knees. Liam watched her for a moment then decided to approach her. He did not know exactly whether to comfort her or to just leave her alone.

Lena felt Liam’s presence and quickly wiped her tears from her face before she looked at him and stood up.

“Is it already closing time?” Lena asked as if nothing happened.

“I really think the grand opening was a huge success. We even had a lot of sales and many have signed up for our newsletter.” Liam said as words of comfort, but Lena still could not fight her tears from falling.

“Here’s a balloon for you… Hope it makes you feel better… Don’t lose it.” Liam said, handing her the purple balloon. He turned his back on her and just stood there in silence.

“I know how you hate people seeing you cry so I can’t exactly offer you my shoulder or chest to cry on because I’d still be able to see you…” Liam began while Lena held back her tears. “So, I’m offering you my back to cry on all you want… I won’t see you and no one else will since you would be hidden behind me, right?” Liam said and that’s when Lena could not hold it anymore. Her tears fell uncontrollably and she did not even try to keep her sobs. Liam felt sadder because he knew how heavy Lena must be feeling at that moment.

Liam just stood there in silence as he let her unload the heavy burden in her heart. After a few minutes ofcrying, she stopped and wiped her tears before he turned to look at her.

When Liam turned and their eyes met, Lena gave out a little laugh as she wiped her nose with the handkerchief Liam handed her. “I know… I’m a crybaby… a little crazy… but I’d really like to thank you… for bearing with me and for lending me your back… Your shirt kind of got wet with my tears… Sorry…” Lena said to Liam.

“It’s okay. I’m actually glad I could be of help. Why don’t we close up now and I’ll take you home? You just hold on to that balloon and don’t lose it.” Liam said, draping one arm around her shoulders as they walked into the bookstore together to clean up and close down.
