[Book Review] Baby Doll

Baby Doll

by Hollie Overton

Psychological Thriller, Suspense,
Contemporary Fiction

Links:
Amazon / Goodreads

I received an Advance Review Copy (ARC) of this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review a few years back, and it's only now that I've gotten around to reading it.

The beginning of the story made me feel like I was dropped in the middle of something important happening, so I was initially confused about everything. However, once the story progressed, everything quickly made sense, and I'm absorbed into the nightmare that Lily, the protagonist, had to go through.

Unlike most psychological thrillers, this one happens after the victim escapes the clutches of her abductor, and explores the grim effects of the victim's disappearance on the people around her, especially her family.

Contemporary Romance, Filipino Authors, #RomanceClass

Reviewing releases from #RomanceClass is always a welcomed break from the monotony of my daily grind as a cog in a corporate machine. And this short story anthology containing six different stories set in different provinces in the Philippines was definitely a pleasant surprise in lots of different ways.

Since #romanceclass was having the #RCReadathon2020, an online event where one #romanceclass book is featured for a week, I decided to give it a go. I got my copy off of Amazon and posted my live-reactions on Twitter through a thread. Still though, I think this book is a gem and needs a proper book review, thus here we are.

[Personal Update] Long Time, No See

The last time I updated this book blog was way back in 2017, and the last post was more than three years ago. The reason for my abrupt hiatus from book blogging was because 2017 was the year my whole life changed. I'd rather not go into details on this.

I had to step back from book-blogging and re-calibrate everything in my life. It was a huge, "Now what?" moment, and for the first time since graduating from law school, I was at a complete standstill.

Anyway, despite being M.I.A. for the last three years, I'm back now. These recent events have given me more time on my hands than I know what to do, and I figured, why not get back into book blogging?

Actually, as I was overhauling this book blog, I realized how diligent and dedicated I was as a book blogger before. I didn't realize how overly involved I was in the maintenance of this book blog, from its appearance, to the graphic images that I use, even up to the social media accounts, and the application used for cross-platform posting.

Within the next few days, I plan to start being a little more active on the social media accounts related to this book blog. And relative to this, if you haven't already, please 'Like' and 'Follow' the following social media accounts:

I'm glad to be back, and I can't wait to be in the groove of things again.
